To all, FWIW,

A few months ago I stumbled across a 2 hour plus lecture and demonstration by Arnold Jacobs and downloaded it as an MP3 file. I think I found it on audiogalaxy so if anyone wants to search it there you might find it. It is a classic and definitive clinic. It's a long download, even with cable.

If anyone would like a copy I would be happy to send you one at cost. My cost is .80 first class postage (until July when the rates go up) + .25 bubble bag + .25 CD blank + my time = 1.30

Trumpetteacher1 and I have assigned ourselves the project of transcribing this lecture. If it ever gets done, that material might be a possible replacement under this forum Marquee for the info that has gone south.

Hi,

I deleted the old "Goodbye!" thread, keeping just this one post. Charly, I'd love to have a copy, and would be willing to help transcribe as well.

Y'all take care! - Don

Don,

E-mail your address and it's on its way!! This could very well be the jacobs CD that was mentioned by pairofkings. Somehow this stuff finds its way onto the mp3 sites. I think the bit rate was too low for conversion to wav though (which I've already tried to do), so to convert would mean copying it in real time to a CD recorder, I guess.

Many thanks to Charly for kindly sending me the whole lecture....

I have to admit I am really struggling to get through it cos' I personally find it really boring.

What Mr.Jacobs has to say technically is GREAT.....BUT....the delivery ain't exactly enthralling.

Sorry an'all!!

It's me...I've got a low boredom threshold...I find it's like trying to get through reading the Moby Dick book!

Yours...pathetically....

PS...When you do the text based version..for Goodness sake ..take out the um's and ahs of hesitation...

Charly, the CD is "Portrait of an Artist" available from Summit Records. It starts with a fanfare, then has Arnold tyalking about how enormously complex we are. The format is discussion, then excerpts (with some great playing from CSO and other famous players), more discussion, more music, etc. I don't believe it's the lecture you have, as the CD is only an hour or so (obviously). I'm interested to see if it (the lecture you have) matches the transcriptions of some other of his lectures I have in various texts. I'll send my address -- let me know what I owe ya'.

Thanks! - Don

Thanks, Charly! I'll see if I can get it (slow connection may preclude, but I'll try). - Don
