Has anyone checked out Chase Sandborn's new book Jazz Tactics yet? I have a his first two trumpet tactics books and have the Jazz Tactics ordered. But I was wondering if any of you might have already investigated his new one and what were your thoughts on it.

Jazz Tactics is absolutely fantastic! As with the trumpet books, he includes a ton of great ideas...as if he has blended the best ideas from lots of other improv books and flitered them through a lot of teaching and performing experience. He presents things in a really clear no Barbra Streisand manner. As with the trumpet books, his sense of humor keeps things on a friendly, non-threatening level while he deals with some pretty heavy issues.

Highly recommended!!!

What PH said. It's grrrrreaat! Covers all the usual stuff, plus more, in Chase's typical humerous style. I think there was a thread on it earlier, where I and many others posted, but I could be recalling TPIN... Web's just too durned big for a simple country boy!

Any of you thinking of getting a jazz theory and techniques book should run (make that RUN) out and get Jazz Tactics by Chase Sanborn (he has a website).

My 3/4 cent (up from my normal 1/2) - Don
