Did you know.....


.....that there are four completed DMA dissertations with Rafael Méndez or the Méndez Library as the subject of research?

In chronological order of completion, they are:

Rafael Méndez (1906-1981): A Study of his Life and Influence in the Trumpet World by Delon Lyren, 1994. This biography was the impetus for the establishment of the RML.

A Computer Catalog With Annotations of the Music Manuscripts of Rafael Méndez by Bret Jackson, 1994. Over 400 original manuscripts of Méndez are catalogued in this project.

An Annotated Computer Catalog of Selected Items Housed in the Rafael Méndez Library by Donald Smith, 2000. 447 photographs, 100 pieces of correspondence, 275 news clippings and 60 concert programs are catalogued in this study.

The Rafael Méndez Online Library by John Marchiando, 2004. Nearly all of the items in the Jackson and Smith catalogs, as well as record albums, biographical information, Library information and music clips are now available for online viewing. Much more is yet to come!

All four papers are on display in a glass case in the Library and all play an important role in the organization and promotion of the RML.
