If I am going to be playing at weddings and church events and things like that, what music do I need to worry about going to Brodt Music in downtown Charlotte and picking up.
I already got a hold of Trumpet Voluntary (/w piano score) and Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (also /w piano score).
Iesus Amate,

Specifically for Wedding, brides will pick up "music for you wedding" type cds. a lot of times that is how they heard the songs that they will request. There was other posts on specific rep - Seems like Don Herman had a decent list
You should know that Clarke Prince of Denmark is the same as Purcell Trumpet Voluntary -probably the most requested. Trumpet Tune by Purcell is good standard recessional, sometimes used as processional. Hornpipe, Handel aka Allegro Maestoso for recessional. The Charpentier Te Deum is good. Stanley Voluntary, Mouret RondeauGet the Mendelsohn and Wagner
Most importantly you will need standard processionals and recessionals. Jesu is great for prelude or mothers walking in. the Classic Wedding & the Joyous Wedding are good collections to have. |

I received a note from John Head, editor of "Classical Wedding" & "Joyous Wedding" last spring. He said that newly tweaked editions of those volumes were soon to be released and that a third volume was in preparation. I agree with PK. Those sets have been lifesavers for me over the years. |
