I bought this cd during lunch today because I've heard so many good things about Clifford on the Trumpet Herald Forum. I'm not very familiar with his playing, so it will be fun checking him out.

That is a great CD but I would also suggest that you check out "Alone Together - The Best of Clifford Brown & Max Roach". Much better selection of music, including some great ballad work with a string orchestra... Stardust and What's New. "Study in Brown" is a must have as well.

Enjoy! Clifford is the man!!

Some recent Blue Note CD reissues have been cut out of the catalog and are in sale bins at Tower Records and elsewhere. Three of the titles are among the better Clifford Brown recordings. They are: _The Clifford Brown Memorial Album_ which includes 18 tracks from 1953. Also essential are the Art Blakey titles from 1954, _A Night at Birdland_, which has a volume 1 and a volume 2, with Brown, Horace Silver and Lou Donaldson. Get these while you can.

Last time I checked, the Clifford Brown 'Complete Pacific/Blue Note Recordings' were on sale at BMG for $15.99. That's a 4 CD set with many of the great recordings on it. There are a lot of other things he did with Max Roach on a different label to get too.
