Hello Stamp fans!

I wanted to let you know about a book I recently received. It is titled "How to play James Stamp's Warm-ups" and is written by Jean-Christophe Wiener and published by BIM.

This book, in combination with the Poper book, should give one an excellent idea about the approach of Mr. Stamp. There are nuggets in this book that I recall from a couple of lessons with Mr. Stamp that I have not seen mentioned else where. It also includes a couple on unpublished routines that I have not seen before.

Tom Stevens writes:

"Indeed, when one reads Wiener, there are moments when one can almost hear our old friend Jimmy's voice saying those very same things."

Enjoy!

Scott

My copy of this book is dated copyright 1997, and I seem to recall getting it in 2000. It seems to have been overlooked and also overshadowed by the Poper book. I agree, get both.

It was originally published in 8 parts in Brass Bulletin No. 100 (1997) to No. 107 (1999).
