I was wondering if the tongue was ever addressed in the Caruso Method. Seems this muscle can make a great difference in the way you play! I have the Calisthenics Book and it just seems to be 'chops oriented'.

Joe

Go to pages 28 and 29 for the first calisthenic tonguing exercise and a brief discussion of the function of the tongue.

Carmine told me that tonguing problems are quite often lip problems and not tongue issues at all. Get the air moving correctly and the lips working correctly and the tongue quite often will just fall into place. The Caruso approach treats the tongue merely as a valve that interrupts and releases the air.
