Just received a 1927 Holton that was in the twilight zone of the postal service for a few months. What a treat! This is a delicate horn, very slim with some interesting treatments and engraving. The tuning slide is very interesting as the adjuster is on the top near the finger hook and the way the tuning slide is configured is very different, but the thing I can't get over is the bore..... I checked it carefully and it comes to 415??? Is that normal for that era or for these horns? It also has only one water key. Any knowledge out there on this one?? Sounds like a real pea shooter. Many trumpets were made back then that had small bells and tiny bore sizes. This was supposedly to provide better control in the upper register.
You should probably ask this question on the "HORNS" forum.

Sure. I think anyone with the name of Mendez deserves a royal tour!
Tours are arranged by appointment. Please contact me a couple of days before you arrive if possible.
