For anyone who plays with Aebersolds: Volume 106: Lee Morgan finally came out. It really makes you realize what an underrated composer he was. The only problem is that you can't help but try to play like Lee, now my chops are burning tired!

Very nice forward by Mr. Pat Harbison too, I might add.

Yeah, that was a tough gig. I was "forced" to go back a rediscover all those great Lee recordings I cut my teeth on. We should all do that.

PH,
Since you're somewhat close to some of Jamie's play-along developments, any word on what volumn 100 will be?

He hasn't actually decided. This is some kind of milestone for his company and he wants it to be special. His current idea (very much in the formative stages) is to do some kind of "pre-bop" volume featuring dixie and/or swing tunes played in a pretty authentic style. We'll see...

I don't know what your relationship to this project is, but you should encourage him to get Veal and Herlin Riley. I know a lot people hate on the LCJO guys, but they come to play, and #100 is indeed a milestone. I had fun playing with the one that Tain's on, and I would like to see Jamey continue to get guys of that caliber. Who's on the Lee Morgan one?

So I called up the music store and said, "Do you have the Lee Morgan CD just out, number 104?" "Ah, yes and no. It's Kenny Barron and I don't have time to look up which one is...."

Did anybody elses print format get smaller? I can't see.
