|
|
I am a three year trumpet student (at age 57!). I love the instrument and work hard at it. Being a pianist, I have transferred much of the discipline of practicing over the years to the trumpet.
One item I am looking for are some plaintive, cantabile trumpet solos that can be used like in the church service prelude. I am not necessarily looking for a hymn. But something elegaic and thoughtful. Anyone have any ideas?

Eric Ewazen's music might fit that description. _________________ Kanstul 1600

Malcolm Bennett - Rutland Water
(this is my Mum's absolute favourite piece that I perform)
Peter Graham - Swedish Hymn
Just about any cornet slow melodies (there are stacks of these - with contests devoted to them) |

Thanks for the ideas. I am familiar with Ewazen, esp. his "Hymn for the Lost and the Living." |

I used to have an aria with no name on it, but I think it was by Flor Peters. Somebody else help me out here. _________________ Jared

Could easily be the middle movement of the Flor Peeters Sonata- a beautiful standalone piece and one that would definitely work in this situation. |

the persichetti and hovanhess would be my choice as these are very personal works that you can make all your own. |

Transpose Bach arias from various cantatas, etc.
They're better than anything written for trumpet. _________________ Daniel Gianola-Norris |
