It is my great pleasure to announce my new book called "Fathers of First Trumpet" It is a look at the lives and playing styles of the three founding fathers of modern lead trumpet playing; Snooky Young, Al Porcino and Conrad Gozzo.

http://www.fathersoffirsttrumpet.com

It is 52 pages and includes biographies of each player as well as transcription and analysis with access to the audio of each piece. $12.85 available here:

Thanks so much, looking forward to your feedback!

Great idea for a book. The website is very well done. I just went to the Listening Room and heard clips of all three lead players in action.

I think I like Snooky's sound and playing the best. You have to listen to Gozzo playing with Sinatra on Memories of You. Wow! (Of course, they are all monsters.)

Jason -

I'm looking forward to checking it out! I ordered two copies, one for me and one for a buddy who will try to borrow mine - "nope, here's your copy...and your own invoice!"

Thanks Oncewasaplayer, Yammie, and BobList!

I decided to go with a print-on-demand self-publishing company and doing the marketing myself over submitting to a big publisher and getting lots of distribution but little compensation.

Obviously, the TrumpetHerald forum was one of the first in my mind to post an announcement. Do you have any suggestions for other major forums or websites to advertise on? I've already done TPIN, trumpetmaster.com, tpo, etc. and working on an article for the ITG but the next issue isn't until October.

Best,
Jason

It might help if you had some big lead players behind the book. I know you have shew, but maybe some others. Also you could get trumpet teachers of the same to get behind it. Email some big universities with big jazz programs. Maybe the NAMM?

Have you considered getting an exhibit table at ITG?

Good Luck Jason.

I'll echo my friend Tony Scodwell's sentiments. You selected the right men.
