I like it all apart from one small thing:

"PrincipAL" means you're a person employed in a position of authority

"PrincipLE" is what you're talking about, "principle's of playing"

Sorry to be so picky lol, Its just I've read lots of resume's recently and its amazing how many people write "PrincipLE Trumpet", my instantreaction is, well i'm pleased you have strong principle's but what experience hae you got.

I'm going to get abused now,,I know,,sorry sorry.

Jon

If you're in England, the comma usually goes outside the quotation mark. If you're in the USA, it usually goes inside.

Hey, why don't we start a thread on trumpet players and English usage. Maybe get a doctor in here to talk about oxygen deprivation during high note practice and its effect on IQ, vocabulary, use of punctuation, etc.

Wow, what a post!

I was directed to read some of the stuff here in this forum by my jazz teacher, Brent Sandy, and this was the first thing I read. I'm going to print it out and post it on my wall here in my dorm room.

I will be lurking around here for a while the next couple days or so...there's so much to read and learn and try...

EDIT:
Ok, so I've read and re-read this post a dozen times now. Maybe I'm just being a newbie, but, is it all really that simple?

Nothing to it but to do it!

It isn't quite THAT simple, but 90% of it consists of getting in the room and putting the hours in on a daily basis.

It seems that fewer young players are willing to do this. And some older players I'm afraid.

There must be an instant solution, just go on the internet to find out how to play trumpet!

Whatever's easy is often not worth having.

I'm not sure if Mr. Adam ever said anything like this, it just seems like an attitude he might agree with....I hope..

I think I need to call him and get in for a refresher. Tension has been high lately...

On just about every lesson I took, Mr Adam's parting shot was, "Remember young fella, a drop in the bucket everyday."

That's good, I'm going to use that!

Gotta get the hole in my bucket patched up though...

That #1 statement is the easiest thing to forget about. Are we supposed to be making metal, air, and lips vibrate in a way that makes some sort of sound??? NO! we make music!!!
