the 1950 movie with Kirk Douglas, Doris Day, Lauren Bacall, trumpet tracks played by Harry James...anyone know what trumpet Kirk is supposed to be playing?

If you want to have a bit of fun, rent the DVD and watch it with your computer so you can more easily move around the scenes. I saw several different trumpets used in the various scenes; a Brevette or Meha with typical Besson bell braces, second valve direction, and 3rd valve slide brace; perhaps a Selmer with slim braces, no tuning slide brace, what looked like a balanced wrap, and maybe a tone ring; and a horn that looked like a Besson but the 3rd valve slide brace was two pillars rather than a single wide brace and the bell engraving looked like a Chicago Benge. The Besson and the Selmer were both used in Aragon Ball Room scenes. There were also several other horns used that appeared to be cheap horns intended to be abused.
Harry James was the musical advisor, so perhaps he advised them not to favor any particular manufacturer.

I've seen that movie, but never thought to look that close at the horns. Thanks for the idea. Now I have to watch again. Haha.
