I am currently playing the Patrick 12C as my "legit" piece and am also enjoying the "old version" of his MF 1 which is teaching me to play with more compression up front. Would love to own a LOUD 12C if there is such a piece out there.

I have a 78M mouthpiece, it's the best sounding, most comfortable lead mouthpiece I've played on.

Looking to trade for several Patrick mouthpieces. I am using his 12C and love it ... looking to add pieces for students. See Trade & Trial thread ...

I'm of the old jet tone school. I loved those rims and some of the shallower bowl cup designs. I got my hands on a BC Patrick mouthpiece a week or so ago.

Feels and sounds like a jet tone, except the intonation is way improved. And his backbores are also a huge improvement. I'm glad to see those old pieces are available again, and have been improved upon.

Sanity,

I have the Patrick 12C piece which I really like and his (original) MF Vintage piece with the 25 drill. Really like both pieces.

Hi,
I'm interested in the Patrick F3 flugelhorn mouthpiece. What's the rim width on the F3? I can't find a comparison chart on the flugehorn mouthpiece.

http://patrickmouthpieces.com/store/#!/3F/p/11796577/category=2605566

Rim profile, bore and backbore would be helpful as well.

Based on his "3" diameter, the chart says .665 inner diameter.

Ah, there it was! I could not find it in the chart myself. Thanks!

Steve makes great stuff, I would just caution that on the Loud mpcs I've had that they measure smaller than other manufacturers at the same given ID. I hear the line under his own name runs a tad smaller.

My experience has been the opposite. I own a Loud 10.5 C and it is bigger than the Mt. Vernon Bach 10.5 C piece that I have. Tad wider diameter ... at least in feel.

What's the cup depth on the flugelhorn mpc Patrick F3? Is it considered as shallow, medium, deep or very deep (like a Denis Wick 4FL)?

On the picture it looks like a mediumish cup depth, but I don't know how representative it is.

If you PM "UnderDog" on this Forum ... that is Steve Patrick and I am sure he will answer all your questions. I would; however, do not know the answer.

Hey Jazzfunk,

I work at Baltimore Brass Co. and we are one of Steve Patrick's mouthpiece dealers.

I would call the depth of the Patrick F3 "medium deep". It's deep enough to give you a beautiful "dark and fluffy" sound, but not as deep as the wick 4FL that verges on "trombone depth". The cup is very easy to play, has a great sound, and is very versatile. For comparison I would say the Patrick 3F is similar (but not exact) to the Warburton 4FL, Wick 4BFL, and Pickett 4FL.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Best,

Garrett

Ok, I have never had either his 10.5C or anything labeled per Bach's numbering scheme. The ones I did have were very comfortable, but I was surprised by what I could and could not do with them so I decided to take some callipers and see what was going on. I learned a lot.
