Why can one buzz a smooth glissando on a mouthpiece? Shouldn't the mouthpiece (being a length of tubing) produce a distinct harmonic series?
My only thought is that the mouthpiece being so short, the fundamental is a very high pitch...much higher then we normally buzz. Therefore, we are buzzing in the "pedal" range when we play on the mouthpiece. Is that it? _________________ The name I go by in the real world is Joe Lewis |
