OK, so I've tried over and over and it always comes back "Your signature is too long".

According to MSWord, my latest attempt was 240 characters including spaces. Even if it counts line feeds too, that's still only 253 from 13 lines in that last attempt.

The Profile screen says 255 characters are supported.

It's broken.

I could probably take that Holton off your hands and shorten it by one line.

tabs, line end indicators, hidden html control characters, etc. they all count towards the 255 limit.
try using abbreviations where possible, instead of complete words..

According to MSWord, this is 235 characters. Add 13 line feeds and a terminator and it comes to 249 max. This was washed through Notepad first to eliminate any hidden characters and pasted into the Profile tool. It comes back too large.

And I'm just trying to list what I routinely use - I dont know how someone would ever list their "collection" if they wanted to.

While viewing the text in your browser, see if there is a way to see the 'page source' - there is likely a browser option in either the 'VIEW' or 'TOOLS' section about 'web developer' or 'online source' or some such.
You might also try entering your website link as plain text instead of as a hyperlink - perhaps put it in brackets or quotes - it uses quite a few html control characters for a hyperlink.
Do it this way for plain text - 'www.TH.com'

Tried this:

Ron Berndt
'www.trumpet-history.com'

2017 AustinWinds Stage466
1962 MV Bach 43
1954 Holton 49
1923-27 Conn 22B NYSs
1966 Getzen Fanfare
1972 Yamaha YTR-761
1957 Holton 27
1985 Yamaha YEP-621
1975 Yamaha YEP Custom
1965 Besson baritone
1975 Olds R-20

No effect - still says too long

Also, INSPECT in Chrome shows the html - but all thread content is passed to the html as an xml object - so cant see any formatting embedded. . . .

Ron,
sorry but I've run out of ideas about what you could try.

One (slim) possibility is that the checking for signature size has changed .
It might even be that your current signature would NOW be rejected if you tried entering it again ...
Since it is already 'saved' and 'active', its size is probably not checked - the size checking would be done during the edit process.

If you do make more attempts to edit the signature, be sure that you would be ok with the new one, in case the old one gets rejected when you try to re-enter it.

I think it might be adding 2 extra characters per line, not just one. I tested by entering 255 characters with no line breaks and it updated fine. Why two? No idea. It might be adding a space at the end, or maybe doing CR-LF a la PC.
