I recently purchased Caruso's Musical Calisthenics but didn't notice any reference to the six-note exercise. Could you tell me which page it's on in the book.
Thanks,

Thanks for clarifying. These exercises are really great and do wonders fine-tuning the embouchure and breath control.

The original book (published in 1971) entitled, "Caruso On Breath Control" by Carmine Caruso and Hal Graham, listed the first exercise as The Six Notes. The next exercise was called Seconds, and the next Thirds, etc. I believe there was some kind of a falling out between Mr. Caruso and Mr. Graham and the book went out of circulation. Herb Alpert was instrumental in getting MCFB published in 1979, and probably due to copyright issues, this new book didn't list the exercises as The Six Notes, Seconds, etc. Students of Carmine (as did he in lessons) universally refer to them as such, however. How does the expression go, "A rose by any other name........"
Regards,
CR
