Hello,

I love traditional jazz and I was watching this video published by Postmodern Jukebox, featuring Gunhild Carling.

She has an amazing tone and technique for playing traditional jazz.

I love the way she sounds with this trumpet and I can't recognize the maker and model:

Could you tell what trumper is this?
Thank you.

There are some talents so huge that they defy description. Gunhild Carling is, in a word, AWESOME. Her primary instrument is trombone but she can seemingly play anything. There's a video of her playing three trumpets at the same time. She dances, she sings, she knows jazz history and her instrumental playing is really fun to hear. An amazing lady!

I can't tell what trumpet that is, but I would think the pinky hook shape is distinctive enough to be a clue.

Gunhild is playing a trumpet from former east Germany. If memory serves me
It’s a Wholrab but not sure. Large bore with wobbly valves. She likes it because it is easy to bend notes. And yes, she plays whatever you put in her hands.she is fantastic!

It is really interesting-looking:

Besson-style second valve slide
Huttl-style pinky hook and water key levers
Reversed first valve slide and bell ferrule configuration
Slanted tuning slide brace

Groovy!

Close!
The name is Wohlrab. Made in Nauheim which is and has always been in the west of Germany. Looks like a Starmaster. Nice photos in this thread:

Made with Bauernfeind valves apparently.

That's where Keilwerths are/were made. Any connection?

None that I know of. Nauheim was home to a couple of different instrument makers. Apparently the city ran a subsidy program to secure jobs for the region.
