I want to do this! I took a class in logic pro and garage band.

You didn't buy the chart? So I just start listening the original to get form? I've got my composition paper in front of me.

Wonder if I could arrange this for small jazz band.

I have a valve bone that I could lay bass part with.

love it PB

You can even make Justin Timberlake sound better. I'd say you're due for a grammy.

As you are the only person named Per I have ever encountered, I was going to ask you if you used the 12B you bought from me. Still a nice horn, eh?

I have to give all this stuff a listen!

Hey Per - your playing and arranging on these cuts is just fantastic. My 14 year old daughter is a HUUUUGE fan of Dirty Loops. A great bass player I work with often, Cecil McBee Jr., originally sent me a Youtube and we've been hooked since.

My daughter has accompanied me to many recording sessions, ever since she was in diapers. She loves what you've added, but at first thought it was a synth track. We would like to know why you mixed it that way. We think it would sound even better as "real". Is it just the compression of the internet?

That's the one! I love playing it - it works especially well with the Bach 3 mpc for me. For jazz soloing and church playing it's my first hand choice. Excellent value for money, thank you!

If you're referring to the filter sweep over the intro, it's just something I thought was in style with the song, paraphrasing the synth riff appearing towards the end. Any other "synthiness" is probably caused by the fact that the same guy is playing all the parts . Apart from the intro filter sweep, the only effects is a light bus compression and a plate reverb.

I have experienced that. I've gone to using different horns and mpcs. I agree - awesome work.[/quote]

Yeah, I use four different horns and mouthpieces for these, but still....

For anyone interested, the Dirty Loops band has announced on their facebook page:

"We're not an unsigned band anymore! Today we inked a worldwide deal with Verve/Universal USA with chairman David Foster. Now it's time to take on the world!!!"

They'll be in Los Angeles the next month or so - hopefully you local guys can go see them someplace (even without horns...), before they'll be touring Asia with Foster, Chaka Khan etc

As there's been some interest in the construction and arrangements of these tracks, I uploaded an example with just the horn parts that may interest some of you guys.

Rolling In The Deep - Horns Only

Happy Holidays!

Time for another one - it's been a while since I last was at it...

This was actually the first Dirty Loops song I heard, and it's just too good to be left untouched...

Just Dance (Lady Gaga cover)

I know this song has had horn section treatment before - nicely done by some UK guys - but here is my take on it. Enjoy!

/Per

Well the upcoming Dirty Loops album has been long in the making, but certainly looks promising! From their Facebook page:

The horn section of the album:
Dan Higgins (tenor), Gary Grant (Trpt), Andreas Carlsson (horn recording producer), Jerry Hey (arranger),
Andrew Hey (engineer), Bill Reichenbach (trombone) and Wayne Bergeron (trpt)

A dream come true for all of us to have these legends on the album!!!
