I've just joined the herald - would love to have had this resource in high school! Anyway, due to spamming, the requirements before placing an ad for selling a trumpet here have become quite stringent, perhaps even prohibitively so. 5 posts? Well, here's my first. But I've not been an active player for years, which is precisely why I will be selling my Eclipse.

Besides the herald, I would greatly appreciate some additional potential resources for selling my instrument. Don't know if I have the time or energy to devote to creating multiple posts that would potentially be without much merit.

Thanks in advance for the help

You might check with Austin Custom Brass. Trent might be interested in an Eclipse and he is not far from you.
And, this is probably not posted in the right forum.

You might also try to sell it locally on Craigslist.

Also look into your local music shops and see if they sell on consignment.

I am trying to get my 5 posts too, and here's my 5th! But to add something of value - I've sold about 10 trumpets in the past month. If you have a Bb trumpet, at least here in north texas the easiest way I've found to sell Bb horns is through a contact in the middle schools, high schools, etc.

Craigslist I didn't have any luck with.

Alumni facebook pages and similar were helpful - sold a $2200 horn yesterday through alumni association.

I have 2 on ebay right now, and it's a great time to sell. Just make sure and have your auction ending between 7 and 9pm CST on a weekday night.

I have two cornets left and have already met my limit for December on ebay, so I am trying out trumpet herald

First, welcome, and yes, this IS a great place to learn. Second, there is a reason for the five post rule. Most of the members here prefer to not see this forum become a free Ebay or a Craigslist, with multitudes of anonymous people jumping on here just to sell. Many of us feel that we almost "know" one another, to a degree, and thus feel a bit more confident buying and selling in the Marketplace.

Again, welcome!

Thanks for the advice. I may just have to give Ebay a shot. I too haven't played in years and my son decided the trumpet isn't his thing.

HornTrader.com

I've bought and sold horns through Steve, and I have been completely satisfied each time.

If ebay is the best place to sell, where is the best place to buy? I have never been truly burned on ebay, but I have done better selling than buying. If I were looking for a good trumpet, I think I would try right here on TH but limit myself to old timers.

I've had nothing but great luck selling and buying equipment here. Biggest difference between here and eBay besides the fees is that everyone here is a horn guy/gal. Many eBay sellers of trumpets are not, they're pawn shops and cash exchange houses. Doesn't make them bad folks, just not very well informed. Steve the Horn Trader is a great guy and honest, however, you're going to give him a piece of the action in the form of a fee. Good luck to you!

I am trying to do the same!

Ditto to EBAY, maybe try out Amazon, or any facebook groups for trumpets. Hope this helps!
