Man what a great recording!
And yes Steve's stuff ROCKS. So glad folks will be able to try out his stuff at ITG, it deserves to be tried, fitted, etc. |

Regarding the Patrick CR5ZM... Old thread, but new experience here that still fits the thread.
I recently tried a Patrick 5ZM cup in acrylic and enjoyed it very much. That went to a friend (thank you, Heather), but I was so impressed that I found a like new, one piece Patrick CR5ZM here at TH, and it's proving to be a great piece indeed.
I have played Reeves 41 pieces (and rims) for a few years; this Patrick 5 seems quite similar in feel. This would also make it a size similar to a Bach 7 rim, Warburton 6, or Yamaha 11 for those wondering.
While I think this piece has a 28 drill, it is NOT stuffing me - and most tight 28 drills are unworkable for me.
This piece has some of the qualities of a favored Doc Sev piece, and I'm pretty sure it's a take on an old Jettone. The rim is inifinitely more comfortable, the mouthpiece is deeper (but still commercial I think). All in all, I'm thrilled with this piece. It's deep enough that I can get a nice, sparkling tone without being strident, yet it enables me to achieve my upper range easily. I'd call it a very well-balanced mouthpiece. _________________ Jonathan Milam
