I just came across a Martin Committee #704XXXL (I assume it is a large bore), as well as an Olds flugelhorn (I assume a model F-12) #495XXX.

If anyone can help me in dating these horns, and can offer any other technical information or specs, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Al

Well, for Olds serial numbers go to http://www.musictrader.com/olds.html and for an Olds catalog from that era look here. http://rouses.net/trumpet/olds66/olds1966.htm check under Cornets for the Flug ... must be an L-12!

For Martin serials chack here http://www.musictrader.com/martin.html

Hey, not only are you guys great, but quick, too! Looks like both horns date to the early 60's.

I actually had an old Committee that my (deceased) uncle used to play in Cuban big bands in the 40's and 50's. God only knows where I lost that horn...I could kick myself.

It seems that at at my age, I'm growing to appreciate the "classic" joys of life (vintage horns, cars, recordings, wine, women...)

Thanks, and if I can ever repay the favor, give a shout!

Al
