Hi guys...okay, my question for the day is...

Of the horns I currently have (Benge, Martin, Olds), do any of them have monel valves?

Thanks in advance for your responses, and as always, many thanks to all of you who have responded to my previous questions.

Al

I think Benge started monel valves in '75 or'76. Is the serial number on yoour Benge valves? My '76 mlp doesn't have serial; numbers on the valves and it has the monel valves. I had a '72 3X that had serial numbers onthe valves and Ithink its valves were played. As for the Martin and Old's I can't speak for them. The Committee I owned had plated valves but I suspect they were replated at sometime.

I am fairly sure that Olds only used nickel plated valves. I feel like that was the case up till the 70s, when the company folded, but I don't have anything that new.

The Committee I had had nickel plated valves as well. And all of the Olds horns I´ve seen had them, too

DEAR FIENDS:
I HAVE AN 3X+ BENGE THAT HAVE SERIAL NUMBER IN THE VALVES. THE TOP AND THE BOTTOM OF THE VALVE ARE IN THE SAME COLOR WITH THE SERIAL NUMBER. I HAVE SEEN OTHER BENGE TRUMPETS OF 1979 AND 1981 THAT THE TOP OF VALVE IS LIKE BRASS COLOR AND THE BOTTOM IS IN "NICKEL" COLOR. WHICH ONE IS MONEL?
