I have been listening to this like 15x a day since December started. I can't get enough of it. It's amazing how close this live recording is to the studio version. Wayne brings his "studio magic" to the gig with him.
I recorded this the other night. It's not Wayne, but I don't think it's bad

I am lucky to live in Orange County, CA and last Monday I went to see Tom's band live for his annual Christmas concert at Don the Beachcombers. Unfortunately Wayne was not there this year but Matt Fronke played lead, who is another great lead player. The recording of Wayne was from last year and I did go see that concert but got there too late to see Wayne do O Holy Night. If your interested Tom's Christmas album is available on iTunes and I would recommend every trumpet player have that album it is so fun to listen to. I have known Tom for years and he has to be one of the nicest people I have ever meet and is one of the best big band arrangers around. One other note is that boy can he play trumpet. I know his main axe is sax but he can fly on trumpet but has no range above A above the staff. Since he started playing trumpet he now has a greater application for guys who can play high notes.
BTW. Great job zackh411. Way higher then I can play. _________________ Yamaha YTR-9335 NYS III

Of course Wayne is awesome. But zack, u sound killer yourself. Ur double d is nice and open and effortless. Great stuff. Hey how is your Pickett top compared to the Manley. I'm still getting used to an MF top from Legends. A repro of the boss's early calicchio. Still getting used to it but the power and effortlessness of that style piece is amazing to me. And I got it in my size. MF's diameter was always too big 4 me. Best. Lex _________________ Mpcs: Jim New-Manley Jazz1/Jazz2/Jazz4/Lead3. Legends MF1. Reeves 39EX/HV. Frost 39MVD. Flugel: Jim NewMF3. The CD was recorded in late summer of 1995. Wayne's A & D were awesome then, and have just gotten better and better every year. _________________ Tim Wendt

Thanks man. My Pickett top is a copy of the JMZVR which has been modified to be slightly deeper while keeping the same rim/shape. The JMZVR is shallower than the production model Jim-Flex piece, I think. So my custom top is a slightly deeper JMZVR made into a copper top, and i use a Warburton #9 backbore. _________________ ~Zack
