The 61B was C.G. CONN'S top-of-the-line horn around 1970. It followed the late sixties 60B which was very popular with pros. The 60B was created in response to a new interest in lightweight, silverplated horns (eg Schilke) as opposed to the heavy nickelplated CONNstellation. The 60B did not have a thumb saddle, however an adjustable thumb saddle was an added feature of the 61B.

Here's how Conn described the 60B, which later became the 61B:

60B Bb Trumpet
The finest, most versatile trumpet ever created by CONN, and the most popular
among proffessionals. Completely new acoustical and mechanical design
throughout. Provides exceptional tone control, yet fills easily and has great
projection. Ideal for studio, recording, solo or band work. Interchangeable
flat, concave and convex finger tips. Extremely lightweight. Undercut slides.
Gold Lustre-conn finish over brass, or Tarnish-Sheild over bright silver.
Cylindrical Bore 0.459. Bell Diameter 4&5/8. Length 21&5/8. Outfit includes
Deluxe case, matching cover, gig bag and matching mute bag.

I recently ended my search for a trumpet. I bought a Conn 60B from my uncle. It is a wonderful treat to play. It rings out nicely. It is very responsive and the valves are incredible. When the trumpet arrived from my uncle, it hadn't been played for 30 years but the valves were still smooth! If you are looking into buying it, I'd say it's definatly worth it.
