MAN, you gotta here this.
Especially the big Doc fans out there. Say hello to your latest idol, James Morrison.
The CD is Lalo Schiffrin's "Intersections: Jazz Meets The Symphony #5," and the cut is "Scheherezade Fantasy."
James Morrison wails, with an obvious helping of Severinsen influence. His performance is just beautiful, soaring, brilliant, exquisite, and powerful. Five words that I hardly EVER use together in the SAME sentence when describing any of the current crop of pros out there.
Of course, Doc is still one of them, pushing that full description to even farther limits in his performance last October at Hattiesburg, Mississippi (Night Of A Thousand Trumpets).
I'm a late discoverer of James Morrison's playing, this being my first exposure (hey- gotta start somewhere), and all I can say is WOW.
