Does anyone know if the rims of the Marcinkiewicz Shew mouthpieces have the same profile as the standard models?

Not sure if this helps you, but I can say the Shew 2 (E5) rim is wider/thicker than the standard rim (like the 4/7C, for example). The rim on the 3/5c and 4/7C feel rounded and pretty narrow, with a fairly sharp bite. The E5 is more cushioned and has a softer bite.

I would venture a guess that the Marcinkiewicz mouthpieces in their "Endorsee" line (which includes the Shew models) have rim widths and shapes that were designed for the specific artists involved, and thus do not conform to the rim contour of the standard models.

For some reason, if I recall correctly, the Shew 2 was a different rim than the 1, 1.25, 1.5 and 1.75 (I had the last 3, but didn't like the 2). I also have a couple of other Marcinkiewicz pieces; his 9, a couple of 6's (one for cornet, one for flugel)... All my Shew pieces, the 9 and the 6's - they all shared the same rim type. Slightly different diameters, but I could interchange them all with no problem other than minor size (diameter) differences. I hope this helps!
