I personally love vintage Bachs. I like other brands for certain reasons as well (like Yamaha for intonation and consistent quality). But ive found that Bach isn't as consistent as other brands. I wouldn't really say I'm a fan of new Bachs. All of the vintage Bachs I've tried play amazing (like a 1940's one with amazing valves). Although the Bach 37 I have now sounds the best and plays the best for me. You should not let us in TH decide what horn to get, it's up to the player. _________________ 1965 Bach 37, Bach 236 D, Bach Artisan C, Schilke P5-4 |

Well, a totally useless thread for someone just looking to sell something in the marketplace, but I'll bite anyways. Adams horns are unbelievable. My A4 is the best horn I've ever played. 4 years later and the honeymoon has never faded. _________________ Adams A4 Shepherds Crook Bb

I'll bite. Austin Winds has always been a favorite, although I don't own one. I also like the new Bach speciality models like the Mariachi, NY 7, Bach and Philly C's. Blackburn instruments are also high up there. I don't like Bach in general, but I like the Bach instruments that make me say "Hmmmm". The Schagerl unconventional rotary instruments have always made me say that as well. They seem to me like a nice blend of piston and rotary, and I always want to buy one when I play one.
I have never played a run of the mill strad 37 or Xeno and said "Yes, I'll buy that one." _________________ Corey Divine

Horns that I use daily - Shires and Schilke. Horns that I use often - Blackburn, Adams, Yamaha, van Laar. _________________ Pat Shaner

I've never tried a student model Yamaha. The only student horn I've owned was a Getzen 300 series (which was quite nice for a student trumpet). I'm sure that they a good though. I like the intonation of Yamahas, but I just don't sound as good as I do on a Bach. _________________ 1965 Bach 37, Bach 236 D, Bach Artisan C, Schilke P5-4 |
