Hello all,

I am doing some research on varying levels of literature for trumpet. I am interested in the books that are like Cassone's "The Trumpet", or Koehler's "Fanfare and Finesse". I am looking to expand my library.

Thanks

Go for

Lowrey, Alvin. Lowrey’s International Trumpet Discography.
Columbia, SC: Camden House, 1990. 016.7881.L955L 2 vols.
First Published: 01 Jan 1990, ISBN: 9780938100799

Camden House Info:
"Alvin L. Lowrey's International Trumpet Discography, sponsored by the International Trumpet Guild, is a two-volume work of nearly 1800 pages that provides an indispensable bibliography of trumpet albums and CDs. Features of the discography include:
Over 1800 LP albums from the 1950s to 1988. Over 400 trumpet artists listed alphabetically, with over 750 individual trumpeters indexed.
Album listings include complete repertoire and personnel in printed program format. A repertoire index with over 2700 compositions by over 1200 composers (1007 pages). An artist index withmusicians listed by performance media, and a composers index (669 pages).
Bibliography of selected references."

A comprehensive repertoire index can be found in
Alvin L. Lowrey's International Trumpet Discography Vol 2.
This is level year 1990 and was driven by the trumpet recordings
available at that time.
The 20th century trumpet repertoire (Berio, Birtwistle, Eötvös, Gruber, Henze, Killmayer, Ligeti, Maxwell Davies, Scelsi, Turnage, B.A. Zimmermann, ...) is missing or needs to be updated.

Hickman Music Editions has one called, Trumpet Greats: A Biographical Dictionary, and I think it looks great.

I realize this is late, but I just purchased David Hickman's "Trumpet Greats" and it is a really remarkable piece of work. Highly recommended.
