It seems that David Hickman's book Trumpet Pedagogy: A Compendium of Modern Teaching Techniques is no longer on the Hickman Music Editions website. Is it still in print? If so, where can I get a copy? |

You can buy it here -- http://www.amazon.com/Trumpet-Pedagogy-Compendium-Teaching-Techniques/dp/B002CX5GB6 -- for $147.97 + $3.99 shipping. They only have one on hand.
edit: also, the Texas State University-San Marcos library has a copy as do many other libraries. You can probably obtain a copy thru an interlibrary loan. Of course, you'll have to give it back. _________________ WayneG

Several of the larger brass retailers may have hardbound copies in stock, but I am all out. No plans to reprint as a hardbound book, but by early January the book will be available on CD at a lower price.

You should publish a softcover edition. _________________ "Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending." - Maria Robinson |

The soft cover on a 505 page book would last about two days, and still cost almost as much as the hardbound copy. |

Having this available as a Kindle book would also make it easy to buy for many, if it was on Kindle I'd go buy it right now! _________________ Powell Custom Bb

I think the problem with Kindle is that you will not be able to have the book if your iPad is broken or replaced. Maybe I'm wrong on this, but that is my understanding. Otherwise, I agree.

With Kindle if your ipad is broken or replaced you still own the book, it becomes part of your library (like buying music, it is yours in your account, not device specific) And folks who own kindle fires (amazon tablet) and E-readers have access to kindle's marketplace. _________________ Powell Custom Bb

What houdini1313 says, is correct.
I have had Kindle for several years. I use my small Kindle reader when travelling. I also can use a Kindle app on my iPads. Now on my new iPad Pro, I can have a big screen. With ebooks, that have nice illustration and pictures, it is much better to view than on the small Kindle.
Dave, I would love to have your great book on my Kindle & iPad. I have (as you know) the original book. But sometimes I am away from my homeoffice where I have all the books - then such a book on iPad/Kindle is great as an option.
Ole
P.S.
The new iPad Pro is also great for storing music. I use the app ForeScore and the big 12.9 inch screen is like having music on paper. (My old iPad was too small) I also have a pedal connected (via Bluetooth) that can turn pages. |

I read through the lengthy Amazon Kindle contract, and it is full of confusing language designed to screw authors. In reading a few blogs about the contract from the authors' point of view, the payments made each month are on the proportion of your number of pages read (not sold) by customers in relationship to the total number of pages read by all readers that month. So, if something like Harry Potter or Hunger Games is a bigger seller than your book, you will receive only a few cents per copy of your book. Hard to believe that royalties are not based on sales percentages of your own sales, even though the contract makes you think that it is.
I will stay away from Amazon Kindle, but I am looking into other companies that provide books in the same format, but base royalties on sales of each product book. I shouldn't have to compete with other authors for my fair share of the royalties.
