Hi all,

I'm interested in trying to understand how Callet's approach to playing/teaching works, but I gather he went through a number of different generations of different approaches over the years. Is Trumpet Secrets a reasonably usable starting point for reading?

Thanks!

Yes Trumpet Secrets is a good starting place. Jerry didn’t deviate much from it.

Updates from Trumpet Secrets I’m aware of:

The middle and back of tongue are thicker than illustrations indicate

The tongue meets the lips a little bit further inside the mouth. In Trumpet Secrets there’s more of an emphasis on a forward tongue past the teeth where Jerry later emphasized tongue and lips meeting at the cutting edges of top teeth or just behind cutting edges of top teeth. (Ie lips come inside the mouth slightly to meet a thick tongue)

Use even less air

Okay, thanks for all this - I'll check it out, and keep the updates in mind.

I've spent nearly 10 years studying, taking lessons and practicing Callet's work and I'm more than happy to share any information that you may need.

Take a look at my website tonguecontrolled.info - I recently added a page of interviews that I've done in the last few years totalling about 8 hours of talking. That'll probably give you an understanding of what it's all about.

After that, hit me up if I can help you with anything - even if just to chat or clear up some ideas.
