I dream of owning a solid titanium trumpet some day, i don't care about the impact on sound, it would be nice to just be able to throw it onto a workbench like a hammer:)

Purely to create a ding free trumpet to last for ages.

This must be possible, right?

Would the sound be that harsh?

Digging up a thread I started a year and a half ago...

I did not make it to the Warburton shop at that time, but I plan on making the trek to ITG in San Antonio in three weeks. Now that more time has elapsed, has anyone purchased (or played on) a Warburton trumpet/cornet/flugelhorn that would like to offer a personal comment? Did you try different models, particularly of his trumpet line, and find one you preferred? If you were to try them, which one(s) would it(they) be?

They have a sale on these through May 15...$500 off any trumpet/cornet/flugelhorn, plus a standard mpc. Maybe we could lock in the price by putting down a deposit now, and try them out at ITG to solidify specs? Kim? Terry?

I owned a Warburton 335-ML Bb trumpet for a short while. The horn was very well made, and the parts seemed to be high quality. Everything fit together properly, slides worked smoothly, valves were fast. I believe Terry sources most of his parts, including the valve block, from Hoxon Gakki (Carolbrass).

The valves were a little bit noisy from the metal valve guides; perhaps a bit noisier than my Bach trumpets with metal valve guides, but not loud enough to be a distraction.

I cannot comment on how well the horn held up to regular use as I only owned it for a few months. I inherited a few horns from a relative and no longer needed the Warburton, so I sold it.

As for the 335-ML configuration, it was a nice set up for all-around playing. The combination of a large bell flare, lightweight and gold brass made a for a really nice sound in small auditoriums, where I normally perform.

Buying from Terry was a pleasant experience. There was a minor delay in shipping, and I received a Woody mute for free as "compensation" for that; a nice touch.

Lots of great horns out there. Terry's are certainly worth considering. Good luck!
