Let me be the first to welcome Jeff.

His method is one of the finest I've seen to date, and I've studied most of them. Maggio, Gordon, Superchops, Stevens, Farkas, Roger Spaulding "Double High C in 37 Weeks", Caruso.

Keep an open mind and let the improvement begin.

Jeff Smiley is a teacher and an innovator. It is no surprise that his well founded approach to trumpet playing is so successful.

The Balanced Embouchure forum should become another one of the unique landmarks that makes the Trumpet Herald the premier trumpet site on the internet.

Congratulations, Jeff!

Charly

Hey Jeff, welcome aboard! Be nice to present a modern alternative to some of the other methods, and your book is quite a lesson in life as well as trumpet playing! Fantastic job!!!

Don (the unbalanced one, or is that reserved for BBD? )

God Bless teachers like Jeff Smiley for contributing to our education and allowing us to become better all-around musicians, teachers and most important, better people. Thanks Jeff.

Lloyd - thanks for opening up the BE forum! I really appreciate your posts and seemingly limitless support. How do you want the payment - check or cash?

Charly, Don, Pat - you guys have, in my opinion, set the bar high for how forums should be run. You are all a major part of the reason that TH is the best trumpet resource on the web. I only hope that I can measure up to your standards. Thanks for the welcome!

Oscar - you are one of those humble lead players that will remain nameless - until enough people hear your double C! Thanks for the nice words. Best of luck in your post-college music teaching career. Goodness knows, we need more knowledgeable teachers.

I feel fortunate to be in this moderator position, supported by people that I respect. Can't ask for much more than that.

Hey, Jeff!

Nice to see that you've earned a forum of your own. I can only echo what has already been written about you, and the BE. It's all good, and it is well-deserved!

Best always,
Bruce

Jeff,

I'm also very pleased to see a forum dedicated to BE at TH. I've wanted to post about BE several times since ITG, but I've been so busy. You know I'm a believer in the claim that this method works for every player. I'll be checking the forum out and sharing my own successes and the successes of my students as I use BE with them. Again, great to see you here.

Rob - thanks! Please feel free to ask questions on this forum.

Bruce - you have supported BE since the beginning. I deeply appreciate your efforts in distributing the book, and posting helpful comments from time to time. You are a good one!

Billy - happy to see you here! Billy is one of those heroic band directors (Texas) that has actually been willing to try something different. He is also sharp as a tack and plain as dirt (which is a compliment in these parts) and will hopefully share his insights into using BE in a brass class environment.

Jeff:

You really do have a major contribution to the mass of trumpet players out in this world of ours with your "Balanced Embouchure" book. Most of us know already that the trumpet is a most-unforgiving instrument at times, and anyrthing that can guide us toward greater satisfaction in our playing would be a blessing.

Sincerely,

Lex Grantham
