Trying out new mouthpieces when your fundamentals are weak is problematic. Rule of thumb, when you think about different equipment spend a good three weeks to bring your fundamentals up to strength. Then consider something new. You may decide at that point, hey this is pretty good after all.

Switching to my current mouthpieces did a lot to help me develop a better, more relaxed playing technique. I was playing fundamentals ‘till I was blue in the face with little result, and if I’d just stuck to that, I’d still be nowhere today.

May not be popular or expert advice, but that’s how it worked for me.

Hello all,
Both stances have merit and are dependent on information not mentioned. Covid lockdown was awful, but I needed the time to really get behind the horns to really learn to play again. No gigs, no groups. Just my equipment, a tuner and a metronome. Best of the new year, to you both.

Yes, if a different mpc (or other equip) initially feels like an improvement then sure, give it a try. But the 'honeymoon' phase might not last long, and the old (or new) problems can appear.
Evaluate your 'fundamentals' after a few weeks to judge the effects of the change.

KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'.
