I started loosening the screw on my spit valve to take it off and clean it, and I soon realized I couldnt tighten the screw back. If I try to turn the screw right to tighten it, since the key is already pressedagainst the tuning slide it won't turn. The key is still stable and airtight, but I don't want my screw loose. I thought maybe I could take it all the way out, and screw it in on the other side. I just dont want it to fall out, and definetly not during a gig or something. What can I do??

What kind of horn? I doubt very seriously you'll be able to reverse it - put it coming through from the other side. They just don't work that way unless they're a pin type (with no threads).

I don't quite follow you. If the screw is backed out, it really should be tightened back into position. It may take some trying to get it just right. Try hold down on the waterkey itself, pressing it inward towards the slide crook while you screw the screw in and see if that doesn't help. If all else fails, take it to a repair shop. They'll probably handle it for you free of charge.

OK, I messed with it, got it tightened just fine. Nothing's broke. Horn sounds fine. Thanks for the reply. Sorry for flipping out.

I don't spit in my horn, but I've drooled on it.
