|
|
I posted this in the flugelhorn section, but thought I'd try here as well. I have the opportunity to audition for a brass band, and they are asking for a solo "in the standard repertoire" for flugel. I did some googling, but mainly came across jazz flugel solos, which while fun to listen to, wasn't really what I was looking for. Can anyone recommend a solo or two for me to check out? I'd prefer a lyrical one, as that's more to my strength, but if there's a good technical one out there I'll look at that too.
Thanks all! _________________ Bach Model 37 Bb

Concierto de Aranjuez as played in the movie Brassed Off comes to mind.
As well as the lovely, neither technical nor difficult but sweet solo in Poet and Peasant(Suppé). Also these tunes could be found on the Youtube, "play alongable". You prefer lyrical ones - often required in brass bands.
Good luck! _________________ Cornets: mp 143D3/ DW Ultra 1,5 C

Londonderry Air (ie Danny Boy) - there are some well known arrangements for Brass band with flugel solo - certainly a standard. _________________ B&S Challenger 1 3137

There's a cracking arrangement of "children of Sanchez" for band - lets you do lyrical and a bit more upbeat. |

Marianne is a nice solo, more jazzy (in as far as brass bands get). |
