I have torpedo peacemaker and a Walt Johnson single and use to have Eastman single , Wolfpack single and old Reunion blues single and the WJ is the most compact case of all and the safer after peacemaker.

Regards

Another vote for the Eastman, though I have the double myself. Extremely compact, very light, great options for straps and stronger than one would think.

Reunion Blues also makes a single case that is even more streamlined than the RBX, although I am not sure of the model name or number. I bought both at NAMM this year. The more streamlined model has semi-hard fiberglass like shell but no storage for anything. The mouthpiece and valve oil must be placed inside the case with the horn.

You're probably thinking of the continental single, it actually fits under most airplane seats!

It is also pretty protective too...

Yes, that's the one.

Absolutely true, as long as you don't mind an awkwardly bulky case that is abnormally heavy, doesn't fit in small overheads of planes, and is too wide and long to fit in all the airline travel sizers.

I have sold 10,000 Torpedo Bags, and have never heard of an airplane fit issue until just now^.

Loredo is less than 8 pounds. The standard Bach brown Strad cases are more than 8. I've weighed 'em all, but if by abnormal you mean average, then you have a point. There's a single flugel case that ships with Kanstul flugels that weights 17 pounds empty -- now that's abnormal. The lightest hard shell case I've ever seen is about 6 pounds (Classic is just under 6). If you get into the beer cooler foam ones, I've seen those around 4-5, but they aren't true hard cases in my opinion. The Eastman might be around there, but the interior padding is horrible and begs for trouble.

But, go with an Outlaw and you're down to 3.2 pounds and can carry a wide music folder and 9 mutes. Super padding. I still think it's our best design.

I tend to bounce around between different Torpedo models, but I believe that the Outlaw Loredo is the best combination of protection and light weight. Plus it looks cool!

When I travel I just directly pack a beat-up practice trumpet in my suitcase, wrapped in clothes. I can't afford the space of a full bag in the suitcase or carrying an extra bag. But I was wondering, are there any "inner case" options out there to better protect a trumpet in a suitcase? I was thinking of carving down one of those cheap $20 hard foam trumpet cases you can get on eBay to make a micro-case I then pack in suitcase. If that would work I might be willing to pack a nicer trumpet.

Torpedo Loredo in brown leather.

There are no heavy cases, only weak men.

Warm regards,
Grits
