Hello everyone.
Im curious what apps you use on your apple computer for you everyday musician life.
I have and use audacity and garagaband sometimes.
is there any other tools or apps you are using that might be beneficial ?
what kind of microphones do you use ?
Does anyone know if its possible to hook up zoom to Mac and record via Zoom rather than computer mic ?

thanks

It is possible, but after trying it one time I didn’t see any advantage.

I record on the Zoom in WAV file format and do my editing with Audacity. I currently have a Zoom H6.

Lately, I get the most regular use out of ForScore (on iOS, not OS X).

I use MuseScore almost daily though on my Mac, mainly for arrangement work for groups I perform with.

We usually have a board with recording capability for both rehearsals and gigs, so I don't do much of my own recording anymore. When I do, I have a Zoom. I don't hook it up directly, I just record audio on the zoom, and then use a card reader to move the stuff over from compact flash afterward.

I use Sibelius.
Also BIAB, although Garage Band likely takes care of those requirements.

Yes, you can do it, I did it in order to record myself playing on a background, using headphones as monitor. You need to import the background in a track on Garage Band, and create another one to record the trumpet. The Zoom needs to be connected to the Mac with the appropriate cable, and you can select it as source in the system preferences.

I use Garage Band because it's simple and effective. It might not be the best tool with the most capability but it's good enough for the things I want to do.

I should probably add though that I also have a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 Firewire interface, KRK Rokit 6 reference monitors, KRK 6400 monitor headphones, and a small but usable collection of microphones.
