The Division of Fine Arts at Gadsden State Community College is pleased to announce that our Music Department will host the inaugural Gadsden State Jazz Festival on November 9, 2017, in the Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center!
The festival is FREE and open to the public. Through this festival, we strive to present quality music education and camaraderie amongst our various programs throughout the region. Our motto is "Come Join the Music"!
The festival is a JEN (Jazz Education Network) affiliated event and will feature three guest artists: Adam Rapa (trumpet), Dr. Adam Booker (bass), and Dr. Jonathan Campbell (sax). Guest Artists will each give a clinic during the day.
The festival will also showcase college/university, high school, middle school, community, and professional jazz ensembles throughout the day (9am - 5:30pm). Some of the performing groups include: JSU Jazz I, JSU II, JSU Latin Ensemble, JSU Jazz Faculty group, University of Montavallo, UAB, Wallace State Community College, Kings of Swing, Myles Probus group and more to be announced.
The Finale Concert will take place at 7pm and will feature the Gadsden State Show Band under the direction of Dr. Matt Leder and Guest Artists.
Immediately following the concert, there will be an after party jam session at Blackstone Pub & Eatery (downtown Gadsden). Musicians are encouraged to bring their horn to "sit in". There is rumor Ashlin Parker (trumpet) will be in our area and join us for the session.
Don't miss out on an incredible day of music! For questions, please call 256-549-8394 or 256-549-8325. See you there![/img] _________________ Music Director/Instructor Gadsden State Community College
