|
|
I bought a Mt. Vernon Bach with no model number and nothing on the lead pipe. I would like to know what bell and lead pipe it has. I called the factory and gave them the serial number. They told me there is no information on the trumpet.
I've heard of people getting the shop cards. Does anyone know how I could get this info?

If they said there's no info available then I'd guess either there is no shop card, or it contains nothing helpful? |

I don't think they tried very hard. They have sales history in the computer for about ten years. _________________ Joe Spitzer

Bach stopped making shop cards soon after closing their shop in Mt. Vernon. I'm not sure exactly when, but somebody here will know I'm sure. Unless it's a Mt. Vernon or NY Bach, there is probably no shop card. |

Bach Loyalist Shop Cards
This says they stopped using shop cards in the 30,xxx serial number range. |

I've had this happen before for some of my collection - that they could not located a shop card for a instrument prior to 30,xxx.
Some instruments do not have shop cards, as they were lost, misplaced, etc. after more than 50-75 years...
Do ask very politely, and they might look again for you... Good luck - _________________ ------

Usually if the Bell is stamped Stradivarius Model with no number it's a 43 bell.
But in the case of your M bore horn, more than likely a model 38 bell.
The lead pipe would more than likely be a 25 pipe. _________________ Principal Trumpet,

For quite some time they were using the 7 pipe as a standard pipe not the 25. |

Hi,
Many of the M bore Strads had a 38 bell but not all. My NY Strad # 5391 has a 37 bell according to the shop card. There were no numbers on the bell or the leadpipe receiver. The best source is the card if you can get it. |

Thank you to the people on here that sent me an email for Bach.
The factory wrote back.
The trumpet was made in 1959
It has a 37 Bell and 25 lead-pipe. _________________ Joe Spitzer

Glad you found out what you got!
For what it’s worth on the M bore I prefer the 37 to the 38 bell. It’s a little more focused and brighter. More versatile horn IMO
Enjoy it! |
