Picked up a Conn 6B that needs some rehabilitation. One thing it needs that should be easy is that it's only got 2 bottom valve caps. Were these standardized for most Conn models at the time? Worst case scenario I'm happy to use 3 matching caps from a Director or some other model so long as all 3 match. How readily should one of these be found? TIA.

I've found eBay to be a good source for authentic, period replacement parts like you seek.

Another option is to pick up a junker on eBay, Shopgoodwill, or Craigslist to strip for parts. I did this to get some caps for a 1950s Olds ambassador. I was able to resell the junker for something close to what I paid for it --- so free parts!

Director trumpet caps from the ‘60s are the same size, but are nickel instead of brass. Connstellation trumpet caps from the era are exactly the same, so that’s your best bet for a matching one.

@Nixer: I also picked up a 6B in need of some rehab a while back. Let us know how yours is coming along! Mine likely only needs a good cleaning and new felts etc. but it’s interesting to see what your experiences are.

It's shipping costs that get you. If you watch shopgoodwill.com for a few weeks you can sometimes find that Conn Director cornet or trumpet with a crushed bell for 20 or 30 shipped.

Oh - for the late 50's and early 60's Conns - you can also use the TOP valve caps on the bottom for a heavier weight cap.
