We didn't spend a lot of money this year, but I got some good music stuff from my wife and kids. Got a sustain pedal, a stand, and a MIDI interface for my Yamaha keyboard, a new cup mute, a couple of Wayne Bergeron CDs and a quad mouthpiece pouch so I don't have to roll them all up in a rag anymore.

So what did you guys get?

I got a Shure MV88 mic for iPhone and iPad so I can restart my old youtube page with etudes and whatnot. It's the only trumpet related gift from this year though.

Many things... Monster Oil "Smoother", a New York Rudy Mück Cushion Rim 18M in gold plate, and the big one: an early Harry B. Jay Columbia model in burnished silver with burnished gold bell. To top it off, the thing shipped with a near mint New York Bach 17C1!
The H.B.Jay is in Fabulous condition. The only bits of wear on that horn are on the slides, inner bell (gold flaked over time), and on the wear plate (soldered to the bell). There is one very small place where the silver flaked very slightly, but other than that the plating is near mint, other than some light tarnishing.

Two books I have wanted for a long time:
1. Teaching Music Through Performance in Beginning Band
2. Teaching Music Through Performance in Middle School Band

These should keep be busy for the rest of my career!

I’m just a high school musician that just recently fell in love with the trumpet. I got the Arban, the Stamp warm up book, a Phyllis Stork book, and the PETE. Going to Dillons next week too to check out some new mouthpieces. I’m thrilled! Hope you all had a Merry Christmas:)

Yep. That is the best portable music stand that I have found. I love the little shelf that rests below the music. Once you have the shelf, you never want a stand without one.

Warm regards,
Grits

My Wife bought me a new professional model trumpet to add to my collection and saved about $900.00 off retail in the process.

A sous vide machine. Now I need to learn a new way to cook.

However since the the oven heats to 500+ degrees anytime I set it above 300, maybe this can tide me over until I get the oven filled for the third time.

Wow, you must have been on the nice list! That’s awesome!

I played a Charley Davis 1S-2 but haven’t played a 9 pipe. How do they compare?

These Charley Davis trumpets may be an offspring from the Calicchio horns, but I think they are better than any of the old LA Calicchios I ever played. I never played any of the Tulsa horns but some guys swear by them.

Also are they built by Kanstu I assume?

Sounds like you had a Meryy Christmas! Enjoy the new horn!

Stocking stuffer: Herb Albert - A Christmas Wish CD. Cool stuff. Nice arrangements. Classic Herb.
---------------
Had used 2yo raw brass Lawler C trumpet (Model Ps. 51) refinished...

• main body - brushed silver plate to hide fingerprints
• copper plated accents: valve tops/bottoms/buttons, all pull slides, trigger to main slide for mute changes, horn switching, playing with organs that shift pitch center from one stop to another
• detachable bronze bell copper plated
• all copper plated sections lacquered to eliminate oxidation
• Saturn water keys

Amazingly, it plays exactly the same as when it was raw brass with no noticeable changes in response or resonance. Used it at two Christmas Eve services, and my sound easily rested on top of the brass quintet and organ, particularly helpful during the congregational carols.
