That’s our new strategy as our 10-piece swing band begins a new year of trying to book quality gigs.
We’re opening for another, bigger, more established band at a local drinkery. Hoping this will be a springboard to more playing opportunities in the Chicago area.

Great idea. I would suggest having a contrasting style to the established big band. You guys should do great!! _________________ Richard

Thanks, guys!
Our style definitely contrasts with the Pete Ellman Big Band. We're more into danceable classics and I intro every tune with something short and clever if I can manage it. Stuff like, "And we're leading off on this freezing Friday with some excellent travel advice from Duke Ellington - Take the A Train."
Here's a You Tube clip of Pete's band. (He's the lead trumpet.)
