Personally, I think this guy (Louis) is an outstanding trumpet player, and the arrangement and the performance of his musicians is nothing short of superb.

Petty jealousies and harsh criticisms are unlovely things to behold, and I am glad I watched the man's video and am able to ignore his detractors.

It offends me when people tell me I didn't see or hear what I just saw and heard.

You're there to please the crowd

So much for "serving the music".

I'm there to play music. If the audience for my band shows up and enjoys themselves, that's great. If they're not into it, I'm not changing it to make them more "pleased".

Stop painting every trumpet player with the "you wish you could play a bunch of high notes, you just gave up" brush. It is absolute, total pap.

Please.

I understand and respect jazz_trpt's point of view.
I know and have worked with lots of musicians
who share the same attitude.
What he said was..." If the audience for my band".
His group may be totally dedicated to playing pure Jazz.
That does not mean that he is not a well-trained, well-rounded
trumpet player who can also work in a lot of other musical situations.
In other words, he may work with other groups to pay the bills.
I don't know jazz_trpt personally but I do know that a lot of musicians do both.
And secondly... Art is not about communication, art is about self-expression.
Do you think Vincent van Gogh cared what people thought about his art.
I agree with jazz_trpt ... stop trying to paint everybody with the same brush.

(No argument there!)
