I have a mostly free day tomorrow, in San Diego. Are there any shops here that have a decent selection of vintage horns?

thanks

Peter

HornTrader.com is in San Diego. However, you'll have to make an appointment with Steve to try his horns. Give him a call to find out if he can meet you at his place. You'll probably have to leave a voicemail message, but he'll get back to you. Tell what times you are available in your message. (619) 401-2828

(Tell him you want to try the horns I left him just a few weeks ago )

Flip Oakes is in Oceanside. May not have vintage in stock but worthwhile meeting him if you've the time.

I didn't go anywhere. I didn't want to roust the Horn Trader man when I doubt I'd buy anything, and I've been to Flip's twice already.

I was hoping for a place I could saunter into and blow on a few things without taking up anyone's time.

Thanks for your suggestions and followup!

I was hoping you'd tell us about the Legend.

Uh, that would be Flip Oakes, right?

As a native San Diegan, I am also disappointed about the lack of horn shops. If I want to really shop around, I have to go to L.A.

He is a legend. However, I believe Brian was referring to the new trumpet Flip is producing.

Ironically, if it was indeed a legend we would all know about it, right? (Joke, no disrespect intended, just my predilection for word play)

Here is a thread discussing the Legend
