Hello Trumpet World!
After doing a bunch of research and speaking with colleagues, I just ordered a Torpedo Coyote from their website. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for Torpedo to process these orders?
Thanks in advance!

You should contact them; I believe they are in the process of revamping the Coyotes, but I think they do, or at least did, have some of the older ones in stock. Best thing is to call or email them directly.

Good idea, I didn't realize they were going through a re-design of these cases. I thought that just happened in 2016. I've left them a message.
Thanks!

Dave,
At Christmastime, they were making an additional first version Coyotes for sale, and once they were gone, they were gone. This is the Coyote you have seen probably with some in the past, excellent cases that carry two regular length trumpets and a piccolo, or a trumpet and a flugelhorn with the right lid choice.
It was the plan to move to the lighter fiber shell with the new generation. They have been working extensively on the Velox, a case that is near and dear to the folks and has taken a substantial amount of design to get exactly like they want it. I watched Kevin at Wolfpak and later at RMC go through these issues in a similar manner, so I understand and appreciate the challenges that Steve and the team are facing with the current cases.
I would suggest contacting them by phone. Late morning is the best time to usually catch someone in, as the phone staff usually leaves by middle afternoon. I have several cases they have made for me, and am a proud endorsing educator for their program. Their product is superb! If I can offer additional help, please contact me privately.

All I'll say is a colleague of mine ordered a Cronkhite double trombone case, was quoted 4-5 weeks, and it took 13. Patience might be in order. _________________ LA Benge 3X Bb Trumpet

I tried ordering from them a while back. I had a really, really bad experience. I placed my pre-order for the coyote bag. I patiently waited the month they said it would take. Then two. Then three. They kept telling me it was a month out. Then I got an "update" that they just finished the prototype. Then, they found some old parts, and said they would make some "Legacy" style cases for Christmas. They told me I was on the list for that one. It never shipped. After 9 months of being jerked around, I asked for a refund. Steve contacted me, and sent me a check...it bounced, and he had to send another one. Needless to say, I was really, really disappointed with the entire experience. They lost all respect from me for jerking me around for so long. I really wanted one of those cases, too.
Someone has a coyote bag for sale in the marketplace right now. You should pick up a used one, so you don't have to deal with the shenanigans by buying directly from the company. |

I have owned 3 Torpedos (currently have 2) and have never received anything other than customer service that went WELL above and beyond what should be expected. Based on all of my experience with the company, if there are those who have had issues there most likely were extenuating circumstances. _________________ Van Laar B6

Alaskanaut's comments don't surprise me. Steve has a great reputation on here, but having read some of his posts about the difficulties in bringing these new designs to life, especially about the unexpected issues he encountered, I can see how estimates slip to the point where customers are restless at best. |

I’ve bought more than a couple Torpedoes, pretty much every single they make, a new Cronkhite single gig bag and one Coyote. While I have had nothing but great customer service, I have to agree with L.R.’s comments above. I believe that Steve has encountered problems far beyond his expectations, and is determined to “get it right.” I do know however that if I had pre-ordered a Velox and had waited more than a year, I would be asking for a refund myself.
I believe the Velox and new Coyotes are probably world class quality cases, but frankly I’ve pretty much given up on them becoming available. I KNOW they will be eventually, and I will probably buy a Velox one day, but I’m really not paying much attention to their progress; it’s simply taken long enough that I’ve lost interest. For now anyway.😎
