Hello
I have a silver Conn 80A in need of a replacement mechanism as well some dents and a crack in the half note crook.

Perhaps someone has a recommendation/suggestion on who in Australia could do this properly?

You can also PM me.

Best regards
Bernt

It's a good bet that one of these people can answer your question.

Not sure what the repairs you describe would cost in Australia but Conn 80A's are plentiful on eBay and elsewhere so, after you get an estimate, you might consider replacing the horn.

There are a number of very, very good repairers in Sydney, plus a terrific one in Adelaide who also restores instruments. These guys are well known and reliable.

Locally,
Ed Diefes 0468 789138 (originally from NY) in Willoughby
Steve Giordano 9571 9086 (another from NY) in Annandale
Tom Mcelvogue 0416 019913 (local guy) was in Dulwich Hill
Mal Pearce 9869 2671 (local guy) in Epping

Bret Gustafson 0449 171774 (originally Pittsburg) in Adelaide

My advice regarding music shops? AVOID. They do NOT give good value for money, and you'l need to return time and again to get a result, if ever.

Gooders and the guys may know someone else. I tend to only go to Ed these days.

cheers

Andy

Thanks Andy, that is great info. I emailed Ed Diefes. Let's see what happens.

Morrie Zanna http://www.bettersounds.com.au/

Logan Village - Brisbane

Can't imagine they'd be anyone in Australia better then him, with his 'workshop' being a huge factory/shop, with every piece of equipment/tool you could imagine to repair and/or restore.

He is expensive though...
