Back to the OP: couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. The ONLY brass related purchase I've ever made that went South was my mistaken attempt to do business with Mark Chuvala.

A 13 year old girl, really?!?

He used to post here quite frequently. Hung out with him a couple times some years ago (no females were ever present or discussed). Seemingly a nice guy, and great chops.

He's also due to be sentenced in April for similar offenses committed in Maryland. Creepy stuff. Rule #1: don't f*ck the kids.

I vote that this entire thread is not appropiate.

Does not matter if the accusation is true or false.

Anything other than the person's trumpet playing is irrelevant and inappropriate for posting in this Web site.

Would you want details about your private life posted here?

This is not about his private life. He was convicted in open court of heinous crimes, in which he used music to lure his victim. He pled guilty to some charges, and was quickly convicted by a jury on others. Those are public facts, not private. He deserves no privacy on this subject.

The matter is irrelevant to the subject matter of Trumpet Herald.

If a TH member were convicted of DUI it would not be appropriate to post about it here.

If a TH member were convicted of spouse abuse it would not be appropriate to post about it here.

My final word on the subject because I do not want a flame war.

Agreed. Once the Washington Post has an article about you and it's a matter of public record - the it's not "private."

Keeping these sorts of incidents off the table for discussion one reason how the perpetrators are able to keep their act up for so long. The Nasser fellow who worked with USA gymnastics is an example.

However, I'm not sure if there was much else to say on this which is why this thread had been quiet for 10 days and was receding off the front page, so to speak. That is, until you brought it to the front again, with your post.

This thread is just one of the reasons I don't like TH.

I am curious what about this thread is the reason.

Is it that someone brought up current news?
Or that one of our fraternity messed with children?
Or that we are discussing it?
Or that the person's name is used?
Or that some people think it is wrong to discuss?
Or that some people think it is OK to discuss?

I personally have stayed out of the fray because I am unsure where I stand on this.

I do think there is value in bringing this behavior to light, even if names are not used. If just one perpetrator is discovered due to discussions about this, I think that is good.

Agreed.

Fifty or more years ago, certain subjects like this were considered “taboo.”
What does that do? It enables, or at least makes things easier for perpetrators.

While I don’t really see a need for this thread to go many more pages, I also see no problem with this discussion in the “Lounge” section of TH. Yes, it’s an uncomfortable and sordid subject, but it’s public record, the guy was convicted; I think someone who commits a crime like this deserves public ridicule. Crimes like this hurt everyone, including those of us who do teach kids.

On at least three occasions, he promoted himself on TH as a music teacher, or promoted a clinic he was holding featuring a different teacher. He used his job as a music teacher as part of his crime. It's entirely appropriate to publicly mention that fact here on TH.

On the other trumpet site, a poster defended him, claiming that the convicted felon was not the same person as the trumpet player. The thread was deleted. I don't see any rational for defending someone who repeatedly sexually abused a child.

Self-deleted, Robert is probably correct.

I suspect the Mods edited the thread and removed the post Brad refers to. Let's not bring it up again and create more work for the Mods.

Nothing ominous at all, I had just copied and pasted a PM I got from amateurcornetist; I decided that I was just perpetuating this thread and it’s not worth the effort.

To prevent unnecessary speculation,
this is exactly what I said to Brad in my PM:

------------------------

“My final word on the subject because I do not want a flame war.”

"Hmm, I guess not quite yet?"

BACK OFF, TROLL

--------------------------------

As I said earlier in this thread,
I do not want to engage in a flame war.

When Brad tried to bait me, I privately told him to back off.
Now he's pretending to be a victim?

...

That proves to the moderators and to everyone else that Brad is a troll.

He throws around false accusations of being Captain Kirk or Morris or anything else to bait people and to defame people.

I repeat, I do not want a flame war.
I want to live in peace with everyone.

Yeah, because Brad has been a member for years, and always seems to make a lot of sense, both in the forums, and PM's. It must be that he's suddenly lost his mind, right?

When he says 'you win' that's code for you to not have to keep throwing darts.
