Hello!
I'm new here, from the world of piano and mandolin - I grew up with a mother who despises brass instruments and learning to make up my own mind... please don't laugh at my ignorance!
I went to an antique auction last week and this item was too tempting at what seemed a low price so I picked it up, thinking if nothing else my husband (trombonist) might enjoy it.
I got home and studied this blog to see what I could learn about it, but I'm still puzzled.
It is stamped Besson Breveté etc, Paris, etc, Made in France. That looks exactly as it should.
There is no serial number anywhere.
The mouthpiece is also stamped Besson and is very heavy.
I haven't used a forum in 10 years... and I can't figure out how to attach photos with a Mac that doesn't like screen buttons)
Whatever images of Besson horns I found - our new addition isn't exactly like any of them, not one has exactly the same details.
It came in a case, no idea whether it is original to the horn or not, but it's... I guess... 1940s style.
My husband loves the sound, it really is beautiful even to my piano-and-strings ears. It appears to be a quality instrument.
Can anyone help me to educate myself about what it is I brought home? It was not expensive, and we love it so it's here to stay, it's really just for our own knowledge.
Thanks in advance. I'll keep trying to add photos.

To post a pic here you have to go to a web hosting site like Photobucket, upload it there then you can post it here. Sort of a pain, but it works.

Regarding your Besson, small details that look different from pics you might find of that horn could be things that were changed by previous owners. If as you said you like the horn, that’s what matters!
Once you figure out posting pics, try moving this to the “Horns” forum, there’s much more site traffic there, and that’s a good place for this question.

I agree with Brad that this should be in horns. However, I believe you will need to PM the user Moderators to request the move. |

True, we can’t move threads ourselves. I was thinking maybe she could just start a new thread in “Horns”, but a better solution would probably be to have the moderators move it.

Hey, don't keep us in suspense, post some pics!!!! If this is an older Besson, there has to be serial numbers somewhere unless the horn is in raw brass and has lost a lot of metal in contact areas over the years.
Try posting pics at, https://postimages.org/
On that website after uploading the photos, copy the link from the uploaded photos on that site,
Go back to this thread on the forums and
Click the "Img" button tool of this forums txt editor and in between the 2 "[ img ]", past the link of what you copied from the postimages website.[/img] |

Not trying to change the topic here but has anyone tried out the new trumpet boards forums? The site layout seems to be much more user friendly and since it is a new site, there can be many changes in the future to make the site layout more inviting.
Posting images and videos there seems to be easy enough too. |

There are threads on the new site in the lounge. They are part of the TM threads I believe. |
