Sunday Funday! Working on some new mini-lessons for YT! Any suggestions out there for possible topics? I have a few already done but would love to hear your ideas. Also I would love to hear what you all are doing out there today! Hopefully it's long tones and flexibilities

Excited to edit a bunch of these down during the Pats game today as well. I might not live in Boston anymore but my local teams are always gonna be from Boston!

Great series, thx for sharing. On the lip bends. You talked about both ascending and descending bends but as you go up the chromatic scale you're still doing a descending bend (playing the false note fingered one half step higher). As most trumpet players know, bending up is very difficult if not impossible by a 1/2 or whole step. Is this just semantics or do you also do actual upward bends on some exercises? I don't mean this in any derogatory way, just wondering if you do those types in your routine as well.
Thx!

One of the things I have been mulling over is putting up some quick informative videos of trumpet technique since I am asked often about things I do to improve my own performing. Here's the first of this new series... let me know what you all think and also if there's something in particular you'd like to discuss please let us know!

If I am fingering open and trilling from third space C to D I would think in my mind of an ascending bend but I totally see your point! Either way I find this stuff magic for my playing.

Here's another video of the series where I discuss playing "tight":

Thanks again for watching!

I agree about them being a great exercise. I was asking as I've always been challenged by trying to incorporate an actual upward bend to the pitch in some lip bending routines. I thought I'd cracked the code doing the C-D-E open bend as well until realizing the D is a bent down E harmonic as opposed to a raised C harmonic, either way a great exercise for all the reasons you mentioned.

Thanks again for the videos, I think the short concentrated tips are fantastic!

Here's another installment in our mini lesson series! This one talks about using alternate fingerings to help you during tricky phrasing or also to unlock certain notes! what do you think?

Great series you’re doing on YouTube - I’m a subscriber. And a real pleasure to see someone who can actually play showing how they do it rather than someone imparting their ‘knowledge’ from behind a desk on a forum. Thank you!

Wow thanks! That's very kind of you. New vids will launch hopefully every Mon, Wed, and Fri at 8:30 AM CST. Feels good to give back to such a great community that supports all we do at the shop!

Cheers,
T

It's Friday which means another Mini-Lesson video is up! This one I talk about what I think about when breathing for my own playing.

What are your thoughts?
